2019 has been a very exciting year of growth and change within MeetApp, with new employees, new features and new customers. Now that Christmas and the New Year are approaching, we want to take a look at the year that has passed and remember some of our best moments.

Our journey from “nice to have to a must have”

A very exciting trend that we have seen is that participants increasingly expect to be able to use an event app for meetings and conferences. Instead of relying on printed programs, we want to be able to use our phones to easily find information, interact with the organizer and each other, and network with the other participants. As one of our biggest customers described it, the app has gone from being a “nice to have to a must have”.

It should be easy to create fun meetings

With great demand comes great responsibility, and we have shouldered this responsibility by investing in making an increasingly versatile and valued product available to more people. To achieve this, we have focused on width, simplicity and ease of use – both for the event participant and for the organizer. With this in mind, we have created the possibility for everyone to build their own app for free on our site, started work on giving our admin panel a facelift so that it will be even easier and more fun to create events in the app, and developed a registration feature that makes MeetApp an end-to-end solution for all kinds of meetings and events.

A more accessible 2020

We want to help companies create fantastic meetings for all their participants, which is why we have started work to further adapt the app’s design and features to make it easier to use for people with disabilities and impairments. We have begun this work by releasing a world-class screen reader and several other updates, and we will continue to improve our accessibility adaptation in 2020.

We look forward to more sustainable meetings

We believe that the trend of widespread event app use will continue in 2020. This, together with an increased sustainability focus in the event world, drives further demand for good and stable event apps to guide participants and provide them with a smooth, fun, and sustainable way of acquiring information and participating actively during the meeting. During the autumn we have talked about several ways to create more sustainable meetings and events:

2019 has been a year full of experiences and new acquaintances. We have grown both in Sweden, the US, and internationally, welcomed several new colleagues to our team, and taken on a whole new market with new challenges in Norway. In 2020, we look forward to continuing to help our customers create fun, engaging, democratic, sustainable, and accessible meetings and events – but before that, we want to wish you all a really Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
